Mo Salah's 200th Goal & Late Elliott Winner! Crystal Palace 1
Liverpool moved back into the top four of the Premier League table with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Mohamed Salah marked his 200th appearance for the club with a trademark goal to break the deadlock, before Jean-Philippe Mateta equalized for Palace. Harvey Elliott's stunning late strike ultimately sealed the three points for the visitors.
Salah's milestone match began brightly, with the Egyptian forward menacing the Palace defense from the outset. Liverpool took the lead in the 32nd minute when Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross found Salah on the edge of the six-yard box. Salah took a touch before firing a low shot into the bottom corner.
Crystal Palace responded well to going behind and managed to equalize before half-time. A long ball from goalkeeper Jack Butland found Mateta, who outmuscled Joe Gomez to head home powerfully.
The second half was a tense affair, with both teams creating chances to win the game. In the end, it was Liverpool who came out on top, with Elliott scoring a spectacular goal in the 89th minute. The 19-year-old received the ball in midfield, drove forward, and unleashed a thunderous shot from outside the box that flew into the top corner.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was delighted with his team's performance, saying: "We showed great character and determination to win this game. We were patient and created chances, and ultimately we got our reward with two excellent goals."
Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira was disappointed with the result but praised his team's effort. "We played well and deserved a point from the game," he said. "We have to learn from this and keep fighting."
Liverpool's win over Crystal Palace was a vital three points in their race for a top-four finish. Salah's 200th goal was a fitting way to mark the occasion, while Elliott's stunning winner showed why he is regarded as one of the most promising young players in English football.
Liverpool will now turn their attention to their Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid, while Crystal Palace will look to bounce back when they host Newcastle United next weekend.
